The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) is seeking a Specialist – Corporate Relations and Marketing Communications. We’re looking for a versatile professional with 1-2 years of experience ideally in corporate development or marketing communications departments preferably in a medical specialty or other healthcare organization.

The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) and its affiliate, the Research Foundation of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, is a vibrant, collegial and highly respected community of health care professionals who have been dedicated to advancing the understanding, prevention and treatment of disorders of the colon, rectum and anus for nearly 125 years. ASCRS represents approximately 4,000 physicians and other health care providers interested in the specialty of colon, rectal and anal surgery. What is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the Sr. Director, Corporate Relations and Marketing Communications with a dotted line relationship to the Director, Marketing Communications, the Specialist supports the logistical, strategic and administrative needs of both departments. You are detail-oriented, tech savvy, and well organized, a team player with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. You have the ability to identify problems and would like the opportunity to show initiative and develop the expertise to propose solutions that focus on results.  
Corporate Relations
You will work closely with the Sr. Director, Corporate Relations and Marketing Communications and Sr. Manager, Corporate Relations to collaborate on industry revenue support strategies, provide administrative support and assist with the identification of opportunities to increase industry support for initiatives in colorectal surgery.
Key responsibilities for Corporate Relations :

With direction and assistance from the Sr. Director, Corporate Relations and Marketing Communications submit, track and follow-up on industry grant support and recommend process changes as appropriate.
Working through the ASCRS management software (iMis), provide administrative and logistical support for partnership development efforts including invoicing, tracking and reporting.
With direction and assistance from the Sr. Manager, Corporate Relations assist with lead generation efforts for targeting new sponsors i.e., identifying and cultivating potential industry partners to support ASCRS priorities.
With direction and assistance from the Sr. Director, Corporate Relations and Marketing Communications, create member surveys on demographics, sponsor recall and loyalty. Report results to appropriate ASCRS leadership, staff, and industry partners
Support the Sr. Manager, Corporate Relations with sponsor recognition efforts. Ensure that sponsor recognition in all communication platforms is consistent and proportionate to the level of support.

Marketing Communications
Working closely with the Director, Marketing and Communications, the Specialist will support a variety of tasks. The Specialist assists in the day-to-day activities including website updates, digital communications and overall logistical and administrative support for marketing communications related tasks and projects.
Key responsibilities for Marketing Communications :

Provide assistance for marketing communications to members and other stakeholders such as website content review/updates, online communities maintenance, social media monitoring, eblast creation and distribution and other platforms as identified.
Assist in the setup and monitoring of projects through a project management tool, ensuring deadlines are met or exceeded.
With direction and assistance from the Director, Marketing Communications, provide inter-departmental coordination support for marketing copy, email content and other communications strategies, including proofreading and internal review/revision/approval process.
Assist with the implementation of marketing and advertising campaigns as needed with direction from the Director, Marketing and Communications
Assist with meeting scheduling, agenda preparation, communication, meeting notes, and other requested services in support of member committees.
What qualifications are needed? 

BA/BS degree or equivalent experience and 1 year of marketing communication or corporate development experience preferably in a health care society or other professional association.
Experience working remotely, within a small team environment serving multiple ‘client’ departments. You are flexible and understand the need to be nimble in a lean organization.
Strong collaboration skills across all levels. You are an empathetic and accountable team player capable of building strong relationships with colleagues, members and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated strong writing and editorial skills.
Service-driven with the ability to address/resolve member and team issues quickly in a clear, thoughtful manner.
Comfortable working with multiple timelines.
A digital citizen with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Adobe Suite skills a plus. Introductory to intermediate experience with iMIS or other association management system database, including reporting. Extra credit for experience in an Office 365 environment and with submission of grant applications. Familiarity with social media including advertising platforms (LinkedIn Campaign Manager and Facebook Business Manager), Google ads and analytics, YouTube and email delivery platforms. Exposure to web conferencing tools, project management software e.g., TeamWorks, Basecamp, Survey Monkey, web editing, all a plus.
Service-oriented attitude and the desire to work with/for multiple people with a variety of personality-types and various levels of need for support.
Creative and innovative with the ability to work efficiently and meet deadlines. You have a proactive and positive approach to process improvement and learn on the fly.
Ability to travel up to 25 (non-consecutive) days a year as needed related to staff retreats, ASCRS Annual Meeting, professional development opportunities and other opportunities as they arise.
