Your first working trip.
One manageable base, your own numbers and room to change the plan.
Choose a base for an ordinary working day.
Use the city collections to shortlist a place. Read article dates and check current details. Think about accommodation, the desk setup, transport and where you would go after work.
Confirm the work arrangements.
Check your employer’s or client’s location requirements, access arrangements and working hours. Use official sources for entry and working permissions relevant to your circumstances.
Budget for more than the room.
Include food, workspace, local transport, flights, subscriptions, costs at home and a reserve you choose. The DNL worksheet uses your own inputs, not live destination prices.
Have a backup workday.
Ask about the actual connection and working environment before depending on it. Identify a backup workspace and a way to contact people if travel plans change.
Keep notes as you go.
Record visit dates, actual costs, workspace conditions and what you liked or would change. These notes can turn into a useful first-hand story later.
